People are getting the message that fracking has its consequences, that it is not safe and that it uses enormous amounts of toxic chemicals and precious water so that a very few can make a short term gain. The wells are eventually abandoned, degrade and become major sources of leaking methane. Fracking for OIL, Methane ( AKA Nat. Gas) is the freebasing of fossil fuels. Its when the easy to find stuff is gone and now your really squeezing to get your carbon fix.
I agree with what you are saying, completely. The problem is that unless there is a definitive ban as in it's utterly and irreparably against the law, then it won't come back to haunt you. Hopefully between now and whenever they go to re-open fracking in NY and mark my words, they will re-open it, we will have some green energy in place. Hey I can dream can't I.
The Saudis are presently doing everything they can to slow the development of truly "green" energy. It won't stop it though. I've been keeping a watch ( as best I can ) on the enormous advances being made right now in materials science. If even a small % of these new materials gets to be developed revolutionary changes in energy production, electronics, transportation, farming, and plastics are on their way. The Saudis can't stop all of them.
