Putin will KILL as many Russians and Ukrainians as it takes to win. He can't lose because it would likely amount to a death sentence for himself.

I think his plan is to make parts of Ukraine especially the cities, uninhabitable. He forces people to leave Ukraine by degrading it to nothing but bombed out devastated areas. Putin wants the win yes. Supposedly Ukraine is getting some serious weapons and they certainly have the will part of it on their side.
