You lost me at "GOP Leaders Mortified". I don't believe it.
This was at the time of the insurrection, 1/6. Since then they have obviously had a 'change of heart'. It shows that they understood what a major disaster 1/6 was in all kinds of ways, but then the old GOP hypocrisy kicked in when they probably realized that the way to retain their own personal power was to back Trump. McCarthy comes across now as the biggest slimeball out there, not named Trump or McConnell.
They might have been temporarily “mortified “, but only in a self-serving/embarrassment/lose my job kind of way.
