Once Ukraine is smashed flat Putin will lick his wounds and move on to another conquest. He intends to reshuffle the post-Cold War deck. Like Hitler he believes Russia was stabbed in the back and he's going to make everyone he hates pay for it.

Could be, but life has a way of throwing things in the path of the best and worst of plans. If Ukraine can inflict some more deep pain on Russian troops who already are experiencing low morale, things could change. None of this is a slam dunk yet.
