I found Nomadland depressing to say the least. Millions of elderly Americans more and more each day face poverty in their old age because the Social safety net has been shredded these past 40 yrs. America faces a crisis where these millions and others are going to end up living in the equivalent of Brazil's Favelas ( tin and cardboard shacks in huge slums without running water or basic sanitation surrounded by increasingly hostile people and their police.) I expect massacres of these people by right wing death squads within this decade.

I didn't see the movie, I tend to lean away from heavy movies. I know retired people in my community that are living on public assistance of some kind including rent subsidies. We all worry about it too, our fear is being left homeless in the street. It's rough out there and the people suffering the most are really not being heard.
