The Market On Tuesday

Good morning. It is 75 degrees and cloudy here in the Upper Hudson Valley. It looks like we could be in for a lot of rain over the next week with temperatures in the 80s. So be it, everything is growing like crazy out there, it's very lush. Our garden went in this holiday weekend and we are off to a Summer of fine fresh vegetables. Vegetables are so good for the body, lots of greens, cabbage, tomatoes, fine fine food. I wish I knew a bit more about how plants are able to absorb certain nutrients out of the soil, why each plant has it's own particular nutrient need which we absorb when we eat them. What makes a tomato become red with particular elements, that kind of question.

At 8:30 a.m. ET futures are slightly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down, with light crude now below $60 a barrel. The market is poised to open lower.

Looks like the morning will be filled with a lot of economic data on housing, consumer confidence, and durable goods. Notice the report on China now importing record amounts of crude. Notice that Charter Communications is planning to buy Time Warner, I never used Time Warner - Fios Verizon here.

The Census Bureau reports data on April durable goods orders at 8:30 a.m. ET. The influential Case-Shiller real estate index will be released at 9 a.m.

At 10 a.m., the government releases new home sales figures, and the Conference Board reports consumer confidence data for May.
