The Market On Thursday

Good morning. It is 73 degrees and cloudy here in the Upper Hudson Valley. Sunshine is expected for most of the day. We see that Golden State finished off the Rockets last night. Now we are in for an excellent NBA championship series as the Cavaliers play the Warriors. I will be watching and can't help but feel a little remorse seeing that three of Cleveland's best players were former Knicks. In fact in some ways the Cavaliers are the former Knicks. The Knicks did not do this well with those players and the deciding factor is LeBron arguably the best player ever in all of basketball. Let's what Curry can do versus LeBron. It's also nice to see that two teams that have been out of the playoffs this late into the season are now playing each other. Hats off to all Cleveland and Golden State fans, the many decade long drought is over.

At 8:40 a.m. ET futures are down and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open lower.

The first time weekly layoff number came in at 282,000 which still shows an improving job market. I believe this morning's information on gas and oil inventories will be telling.

CNN: Stocks: 5 things to know before the open
Government data on pending home sales from April will be released at 10 a.m.

Later in the morning, Wall Street will get the latest information on natural gas and crude oil inventories.
