I think political beliefs are not linked to facts, they're linked to emotion. Facts can vary but people don't want to change their emotion particularly if it's linked to being correct or right or righteous. You could drop a garbage truck load of facts on right wing people and it would not alter their view, their view is linked to an emotional core.
