These aholes will never ever accept the notion they did anything wrong. I still have people I know who think Saddam took down the Towers. What I've been able to boil down is this, it doesn't matter to them which Muslims did it, in there view any of them were legitimate targets after that. So, using that logic they think bombing and invading Iraq was fine and they don't understand why anyone would think other wise.
I forget who said it and I paraphrase but - invading Iraq because of 9-11 would be like invading Mexico after Pearl Harbor.
I think what your saying is very plausible, even Bush didn't know the different sects, and the buck allegedly stopped with him. Back then I listened to Limbaugh from time to time. I'll never forget one fine gentlemen caller suggesting that America nuke the entire region and in his words clean out the cesspool.
