I feel really bad for women in Afghanistan, but can we endlessly protect them from their own fathers, husbands, cousins and sons? They are a great example of what happens in a society when any kind of reactionary totalitarian religious cult takes over. We have these same people here fighting to remove women's rights and they're winning in many parts of the Country.
Afghanistan is a mess. This is fundamentalist patriarchal society, they're essentially hurting themselves by removing more than half of the brain power of their country.
