The big problem is that Afghanistan is falling off the cliff in terms of being a viable country. They are facing a severe food crisis, a very distressed economy, and attacks from the even more fanatical right. There are bombs going off in Afghanistan for terrorists who think the Taliban are not fanatical enough.
