I'm sure you may have experienced something similar to this. Last night I had a real twisting and turning sleep, waking frequently, and I attributed it to the Thanksgiving feast that had me eating way outside my lane so to speak. Reading through the news outlets this morning, my twisting and turning fear as it were, was explained. It's hard to ignore the new variant coming out of South Africa. The BBC News clip posted below is probably the more sensible with a lot of - let's not get alarmed about this until we know more.

The variant has only very recently been discovered. Clearly the world is rattled with flights being canceled and the stock market precipitously falling. In my reading through this information, the line that caught my attention is the possibility that this new variant can find it's way around the human immune system. That's the line that got my attention. All I can say is please be safe, wear a mask if you go into a store, and just make sure your antenna is up, it can't hurt. We will no doubt be learning a lot more about this variant over the next few days and weeks. Hopefully it can die off quickly, as other alarming variants have done in the recent past.

Sadly, SARS ( the virus) is turning out to be not only as mutable as the Flu but it's also nowhere near as seasonal and is already a sure bet to be endemic even after the pandemic fades. Were not going to eradicate this beast any time soon if ever. We are going to adapt to it and develop better vaccines against it and better medicines and therapies to treat those that get sick from it. We are ALL going to be either infected or exposed to it at some point going forward. So, keep up your vaccinations and buy a good N95 or KN/KJ95 level mask and wear it when necessary. A lot of people out here are acting as though this is over so we need to protect ourselves from them.

At the supermarket today, lots more people were wearing masks. It all depends on what side of the political aisle you're on. It's fascinating to see the reactions on YouTube for some of the videos I posted on Omicron. Some have more dislikes than likes, and I can't help but wonder what people are disliking. It's not that this variant is now out there, it's simply that it is being reported on and people are taking actions to try to disrupt its infection rate.

You would think two yrs. into this nightmare less people would be in denial that it's happening.

It's kind of weird because the majority of opposition seems to revolve around politics. Not sure how politics and a pandemic mix, but that's life in America in 2021.
