NY Times: History Can Be Erased. It Often Has Been. by Charles M. Blow
They (Republicans) want to flatten all of this (January 6th) into a single mass of things that happened during the pandemic, none better or worse than the other, things happening on the ideological left as well as the right.

It took decades for me to unlearn some of the "history" we were taught in public school. I was slow to come around to the idea that certain "truths" needed to be examined. Fast forward to the present and it's amazing to see the masses "accept as told" in real time during the last 4 years.
What is it Mark, what makes people split up and go to different sides of the aisle. Is it genetic, is it location, is it upbringing, what is it.
I ain't no doctor with degrees, but looking at nature vs. nurture, my vote in this case goes to the nurture side, upbringing and location being part of it.
If we paid attention, we saw many prejudiced behaviors somewhat in check during Obama years being set free with Tr**p. That "permission to be our worst selves" is all nurture.
I grew up in a conservative religious right family.
And you found your own voice.
I owe it to my deceased brother. He was gay, older than me by 10 years, an artist, and extremely sarcastic and satirical about the family scene. He taught me how to laugh at it, he also paid a price for it.
Wow. I know nothing of your brother. When did you lose him?
He passed away in 2005.
A huge loss for you. I'm sorry.
