'Nanostructured Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Electrocatalysts For CO2 Reduction In Ionic Liquid'

I posted on this last week but it's worth another long hard look. This is very promising.

Science Daily: A new leaf: Scientists turn carbon dioxide back into fuel
summary - Researchers have found a way to convert carbon dioxide into a usable energy source. Produced by the burning of fossil fuels in power plants and car engines, carbon dioxide continues to accumulate in the atmosphere, warming the planet. But trees and other plants do slowly capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, converting it to sugars that store energy.

If this discovery and the device these people have created pans out it could rank up there eventually with one of the pivotal scientific breakthroughs humanity has been looking for to get it out of the corner it has painted itself into as regards it's waste and energy problem. It's to be seen. A very close eye has to be kept on this development because there are powerful forces a foot out here in whose interests this device is a direct threat. You know who you are and were watching.

Actually not sure I agree with you because the device on the other hand could open up interest in continuing with fossil fuels as it end result - global warming - could be mitigated by this technology! It's tricky. Why end fossil fuel if the consequence of CO2 is mitigated? See what I mean.
