Interesting stuff for sure. This quote is worth considering. Especially while we’re floating on a Harris bump. It’s Tr**p, but more importantly, it’s Tr**pism.

“…progressives must be careful. They need to separate their critiques of Trump’s cartoonish appeals to hyper-masculinity from the right’s more foundational strategy to align itself with ‘lowbrow’ media genres and their audiences. While the UFC, Kid Rock, and entertainment wrestling represent ‘macho’ media, they are also clearly culturally coded as working-class. This dovetails with themes raised by more serious intellectual thought leaders at the RNC convention, like former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Trump’s Vice-Presidential running mate JD Vance….”

"Beyond the style and performance, the substance of Trump’s speech was a terrifying vision of an American dictatorship wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross and Bible all under the guise of “unity” and “patriotism.”"

Of course the substance is terrifying. But style and performance are all that counts in terms of getting enough votes. We know that saying and doing anything is the MO that has worked.

My point is simply pointing to the "be careful" message in this article. Keep your eye on the torch carriers of Tr**mpism (Vance/Carlson) instead of just concentrating on the singular orange guy.

When Obama was in office, prejudice didn't diminish. Even if there is a blue wave in November, Tr**mpism/2025 doesn't go away. It is more pervasive now than 8 years ago.
