The attack on education and in particuliar Public education is part of a much bigger assault by the Right on secular society in general. They want private religious schools to teach their idealogy and religious beliefs. They want to hammer flat the idea of a secular state built ontop of democracy and the rule of law. The actual attack is happening with assault weapons as well.

They also call all this freedom and liberty. It's their freedom to trample on everyone else's beliefs and rights.
