He's doing this for strategic reasons but the effect on Climate change will be profound. Methane ( CH4) AKA "Natural Gas"even more then CO2 is causing the rapid warm up and thinking your going to get away with endlessy burning it is a fools errand.
Biden is likely trying to convince the EU to remain on board with the pursuit of Russia. The world in a sense can't afford either outcome, ie Putin capturing Ukraine or more GH gases.
The Ukraine is just another Petro war masquerading as a National Civil war. Putin wants the right of ways through the Ukraine for Russian Gas and he wants it's fertile farm land the old breadbasket for the USSR. He doesn't care if he has to kill and imprision the entire Ukrainaian population to get it. Sadly,I don't see how we avoid a BIG European land war with this situation.
