  There is a new idea emerging out of the Trump presidency. Trump is renaming the virus the Chinese Virus. Trump is creating an enemy that he can pin the blame on. The idea is that he is now a war time president fighting an enemy that comes from China, it is Chinese. See how that works? I have not looked yet but I would presume his supporters are rallying around his call, they will continue to see him as their hero president, now one who will fight in a type of proxy war or possibly something stronger with China. This idea also relieves Trump of any culpability for his initial response in handling the virus where he referred to it repeatedly as a hoax or a Democrat (sic) attempt to impeach him once again. Trump takes no responsibility for that and simply 'pivots' to this new idea of fighting a war with China. Recapping, there are two issues which Trump can conveniently run from as he pivots to being a wartime president. First would be his obvious failure in taking the virus seriously from the beginning, prior to when the virus first landed in the USA. The second is also the failing economy which he also can now pin on the scapegoat, China. This is going to get very ugly.
