I'm happy for the Gays, but this 5/4 ruling will be just as controversial and political as the ruling on ROE vs. Wade a generation ago was and still is. I'm afraid it's unintentional consequence might be to fire up the Conservative base even more and put more life back in that movement.

They're already at it. Idiots. The right has a hell of a time living with any form of democracy. It's their way or no way. I just wish they'd stop holding up the banner of god and religion, gives such a bad name to both...

"I just wish they'd stop holding up the banner of god and religion, gives such a bad name to both.." What else do they have? By claiming they OWN the rights to interpret the WORD of GOD they try and put themselves above the LAW. It's a way of ending any arguments or debates. ISIS does the same thing with their take on the KORAN. Reject their ideology at the pain of death. It's coming to just that with the hard right in this country. Roof's choice of killing blacks in a Christian Church wasn't just a random act, he was trying to make a religious / kultural statement about Blacks and Christianity ( they aren't really a part of it.) Listen, closely to people like Mike Huckabee and Cruz they are barking essentially something similar. The Dominionist kult is fervent on this pt. Blacks, Jews, Muslims and others are not going to be handed the planet to rule after GE-ZEUS comes back, they are and therefore they claim the right up front to run the show now. Roof and many many others like him are just the tip of a bloody iceberg of white supremacists in this country.

You make a very good point. I hear this from people like Coulter as well. They are above any sense of questioning their own motivations, their own ideals. They have it down perfectly, they are in a state of perfection. That of course is the very first thing anyone ever needs to know to recognize that they are encountering a supreme charlatan. This is the rigidity of fundamentalism, it's beyond question, beyond doubt. I think at the heart of it lays supreme insecurity and fear. It's like the guy who buys a huge wheel truck with smokestacks and such, I always think - overcompensating are we. Problem is these fundies are just as you say deadly serious. We're all just so much chattel that needs to be obliterated. What always strikes me is that from a psychological point of view, these are the craziest people out there because they not only harm themselves but they harm anybody in their path.
