Comment

I found this comment on the NYT website following an article on the new revision of Indiana's bigot law. I want to thank this person for making it crystal clear.

The social conservatives that drive the Republican Party have shown time and again they have no desire to work in society at large. They wish to use legislative majorities to make the world in their own narrow frame. It amazes me that they thought they could use the phrase religious freedom in the manner they did. Religious freedom means people are free to follow their consciences in religious matters without gov't interference. These folks think it means bigots don't have to acknowledge there are people who are different from them and they can discriminate against them because they have a legislative majority.
