Lots of this in S. Jersey these days. Little work and most of it low pay without benefits, tons of illegal Mexicans being exploited here for even cheaper labor that can be used as you will , since they certainly can't complain to anyone if you know what I mean. Among all this poverty a few driving Rolls and Mercedes and living large. The middle class fading away by the hr.
I don't know the figures for this area but I do know that the higher paying state jobs in this area which is the capital of NY are being retired off with no replacements. so the overall economic level is decaying a bit. On the other hand there is a tech industry that is rising here. My sense is that homelessness probably is a bit worse for the poor around here.
