Just spent the last three hours dealing with a broken sump pump.
Discovered three inches of water on the basement floor and the sump not working and then proceeded to freak.
Fortunately I have a friend who is a plumber and I got a new pump installed. It looks like a good piece of equipment too, better than the old. Its solid metal heavy duty casing and pumps water like a monster.
We are in the middle of 40 days and 40 nights of rain around here. I am amazed at the flow of water into the sump pump, the ground is super saturated with water.
The basement is now under control, I've got a fan running to help dry it out. One section of the floor needs special mopping attention every few hours otherwise we are now in good shape.
