DOW Lower At Noon

In the noon hour the DOW is down 196 points.

Notice that today's headlines indicate that the zero jobs gain in August is "fueling recession fears." Recall that just yesterday Reuters was talking about "easing recession fears."

The headlines will take you all over the emotional territory in an instant. Talk about mood swings. The point is to remain objective, don't fall for the rhetoric of journalists working on infusing dynamics into an otherwise dreary subject.

We are quite capable of pulling out of a recession. The biggest hindrance right now is the Republican controlled Congress pushing austerity measures in a time when the government needs to intercede. This will make matters worse not better.
