Not a good sign. What happens in the Arctic doesn't stay in the Arctic as we are finding out this past week. Polar amplification is a primary feature of the "warming." The rapid warming of the planet due to an excess of carbon ( CO2 , CH4 & Chlorofluorocarbons) in the air causes the poles to heat twice as fast as the rest of the planet. This is causing the Arctic sea ice to melt faster and as a result the Arctic Ocean is open and ice-free more and more. This lowers the Albedo ratio of the planet ( the ratio of sunlight and heat reflected by the planet) causing a feedback loop where the lower this ratio goes the more light and heat are absorbed by the now dark heat absorbing Arctic ocean. It's a major tipping pt. and it's happening decades earlier then the models predicted. This is really bad news for all of us. Once the Arctic ocean is Ice free the warming will accelerate like crazy.
