The Market On Monday

Good morning. It is sunny and 14 degrees here in the Upper Hudson Valley, the forecast predicts clouds and temperatures in the medium 30s this afternoon. We are presently staring down the barrel of a massive snow storm scheduled to hit tomorrow. We will get 12 to 18 inches of snow and it will look a lot like Winter as we enter the official last week of Winter. This is the heartbreaking part of the program where Winter just won't give up. Hey we can do this, we're old hands at it. And you know what, in a week most of the snow will be gone.

At 9:15 a.m. ET DOW futures are -4 and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open in the flat area.

Lots of activity this week, Trump is supposed to give evidence on the alleged illegal Obama wiretap of his phones at Trump Tower. I suspect Trump will postpone or ignore the imperative, he's that kind of guy after all. Expect the base interest rate to go up especially considering the good jobs report from February.

The U.S. Federal Reserve is expected to hike interest rates, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet President Trump and The Netherlands is holding a closely-watched election. Plus, the U.K. could formally trigger Brexit negotiations.
