The Market On Friday

  Good morning. It is 5 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley, and that is not a typo, it is 5 tiny freezing degrees here. The forecast predicts snow and temperatures in the 20s this afternoon. Take heart, it's supposed to warm up on Saturday and by warm up we mean it goes into the 30s.

  At 9:30 a.m. ET the DOW is modestly higher and the price of oil is up at $51 and change per barrel. The market is opening modestly higher.

  There a huge big pharma merger happening in Europe - Sanofi and Actelion. But relatively speaking the consensus is more about it being a calm ordinary day on Wall Street. Hopefully I didn't jinx it and the DOW drops 500 points out of nowhere! Enjoy the weekend.
