The Market On Friday

  Good morning. It is 48 degrees and it is sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley, the forecast predicts a sunny day with temperatures in the 50s this afternoon. The presidential race is tightening again yet Clinton still holds the superior position. Can she hold on for the next three days, this is the question. We suspect yes, she can hold on. Lots of things to parse this morning and I'm looking forward to the new Newsweek article on Trump's mischievous activity in Russia.

  At 9:15 a.m. ET futures are flat and the price of oil per barrel continues to dip. The market is poised to open in the flat area.

  The monthly jobs report came out earlier and showed that in October the US gained 161,000 new jobs and that the unemployment rate is now at 4.9%. Notice that investors will once again be looking to the Fed for clues about a base interest rate hike. This big question continues to linger.

Three Federal Reserve members -- including vice chair Stanley Fischer -- are speaking publicly on Friday about various topics. Traders will be looking to see if they drop further hints about the Fed raising interest rates in December.
