The Market On Friday

Good morning. It is -3 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. Yes that is negative 3. It looks like it might get right on up to 5 degrees later today. I guess outside activities will not be high up on my list of priorities for Friday. Speaking of Friday, it's Friday the 13th too. I suspect to a certain degree, give or take, we're all a little superstitious. We all have rituals that we use to ensure that all goes well or to try to break out of a slump. Wish I could ritual away the cold.

At 8:50 a.m. ET futures are moderately higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

Oil is now trading between $50 and $55 a barrel and it appears that the greater recent range is now $45 to $55 per barrel over a period of weeks. The good news this morning comes from the eurozone with talk of assistance to Greece from the ECB and with some higher GDP numbers here and there. The eurozone has been in trouble and today there is a bright moment so to speak.

And the European Central Bank is reportedly providing further emergency financing to Greek banks to ensure they can continue functioning smoothly even as fears remain that Greece could stumble out of the eurozone.
