I hated this article. Its makes no sense. If colonialism was the reason for all the terrorism coming from the ME these days then North and South America should be awash with terrorists and there not. What its really about is trying to pin the blame for this on someone else anyone else. Its way past time for Islam to own up to the fact that for some reason today its awash with violence prone groups. Its however annoying to see such an article in AJ, its just smells of scapegoating and denial.

I wish I could argue the point one way or the other. Truthfully speaking I can't and can only offer a few thoughts. I believe there is blowback. You could say that inner city American poverty and gang activity is a matter of blowback and in this way we do have blowback of a colonial sort. Also it strikes me that the notion that time heals all wounds sometimes ridiculously slowly. On the other hand there is clearly Islamic extremism that is blatantly murderous and downright evil. You can't really massage something that ugly with kind words, it needs much more intense intercession. I just don't know enough because a lot of these extremists are not poor and uneducated. So you can;t really blame it on those things as it were. It could be that terrorism is just something that will arise all over the world and depending on the political implications, it gets labeled as a terrorist attack as in Paris, or a deranged human being as in Sandy Hook. What we call it doesn't matter, it all cold blooded murder.
