This Has To Change

Guardian UK: Gayle Forman on why we need to talk about depression - In the last few decades, depression has shed some of its stigma. People now talk more openly about it; they are more apt to seek treatment for it. And yet, there is still something to it that causes its sufferers to feel differently about their condition… That has to change

Talking about your depression just seems to make it worse. Sadly, depression is a depressing topic and nobody wants to discuss it with you.

Yes but, it's something that is better off in the broader public discussion than in one's own sole world. The more people are aware of it the more they can feel that it's not just their own nightmare, that many others experience depression, and that there are ways to find help. In our society as it is so pressure filled, payment based, and materialist structured having a lot of depressed people would seem like a 'normal' outcome. So it should be a normal part of the group discussion. I don't want to get too morbid here but I would also want the discussion about death to get out there a lot more as well.
