I think what you say is true. The religious right has a strongly defined concept of what a family is supposed to look like. The roles are severely defined and the marriage of course is a heterosexual marriage, only thank you. Abortion takes a sledge hammer to these beliefs and this also shatters the religious beliefs which the fanatic needs to see mirrored in his little world.

A lot of it is the fear of some men that if women are allowed to control their bodies they might choose to cock hold them and they might God forbid end up raising some other males offspring. Actually, making birth control and abortion available in reality limits that possibility especially now because its easy for a couple or a women to know exactly who the fathers or father of her children are through DNA testing. Anyway, in the small minds of these guys they feel they have the right to control their women in every way possible and limiting by law what they can and cannot do with their bodies fits the bill. The bottom line of all this nonsense is really about control and power over others.
