This is only good news if Gov't and Corps. invest in developing these medicines. We shouldn't ever forget that cure for EBOLA was in hand 10 yrs. ago , but it slipped away because the drug companies refused to take it all the way through to approval. The reason was not scientific it was simply financial. If we rely on the market to bring this shit forward we can probably forget about it or worse only get those drugs the companies can use to extort money out of us when their really really needed. There is examples out there right now where this is already the case. A drug that cures Hep. C goes for 60K a dose and you need 2 yrs. worth to be cured. Who pays for this? The same drug goes for 1/10th of this in Europe.

I tell everybody I know that when you go to the hospital, you are thinking cure and I need help. What the corporate medical entity sees in you though is a living bag full of dollar signs. You got a dollar sign on your heart, your liver, your prostate, you name it. And the idea is simply to fix you up with the mall store/doctor who will be happy to get you on a payment plan for your fixed up whatever. Drug companies see the same dollar signs, it's not about health it's all about profit. I'm not a fan of US medical care pre or post Obamacare. It sucked before, it sucks in a different way now.

The whole Medical model in the US has failed because our Gov't no longer represents all of us, it represents those with enough excess money to be able to essentially buy from Gov't what they need to maintain these kinds of rigged market situations. Its the triumph of monopoly special interests over competition a theme that has run all throughout American history.
