The Market On Monday

Good morning. It is 72 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. I must say the weather has been remarkably gorgeous right through the weekend and now today as well. I hope you had a good extended weekend, the extra day was just what we all needed. I tend to shy away from the fireworks and such, not a big fireworks appreciator here. My poor new dog hates loud noises and so much of the weekend was spent trying to somehow comfort her. Some dogs hate thunder and booms, so July 4th weekend is not a dog's weekend.

At 8:25 a.m. ET futures are slightly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open lower.

The DOW passed the 17,000 mark for the first time ever last Thursday. Today we get the sense that there is some reflection on that milestone and we might even get some pullback. My take is that investors are now awaiting second quarter reports and till they arrive and are parsed to perfection the market might drift.
