The Market On Friday

Good morning. It is 62 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. The weather logos predict a hot humid day in the 80s. We were all very discouraged to hear about the Malaysian liner shot down over the Ukraine. Talk about a senseless act of violence, that one ranks as one of the most pointless outrages if there ever was one. What is so troubling is knowing the brutal panic and extreme fear that those poor passengers experienced. They didn't have a chance.
Guitar legend Johnny Winter passed away on Thursday. When I was a kid there was a solid year or two when I tried to copy his style. People went to his shows all over the world right up to the end.

At 8:15 a.m ET futures are slightly higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

Tragic world events have affected global markets and Wall Street is not immune. The Malaysian airliner tragedy and Israel's invasion demonstrate that people fundamentally want to live in a harmonious world and this extends right into economies.
