The Market On Wednesday

Good morning. It is 28 degrees and sunny here in Upstate NY. Yes we are having one of those fine bright sunny mornings the day after it snows. Yes we have a few inches of time released water or as some people call it, snow, out there. Call it what it is an early spring fluke. Fortunately the roads have absorbed enough heat and are perfectly fine. The forecast is predicting temperatures in the 50s and above starting tomorrow.

At 8:30 a.m. ET futures are moderately higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

The morning's spate of first quarter reports have been positive. That along with some good news out of China is pushing futures into positive territory. So far earnings season has been rather jumpy but for the time being, this morning, it's jumping up. Is it a one day thing or a trend? Speculation on the market is almost pointless unless you're into gambling.

CNN: Stocks get a boost from earnings, China
Yahoo...posted earnings and sales that came in slightly ahead of expectations.

China's economy grew at an annual rate of 7.4%...the figure was slightly stronger than most economists were expecting.
