More then a few pundits and groups on the far right don't even think women, poor people and certain minorities should be allowed to vote. The use of photo id's is just what it is, a way to bring class into the equation. The right wants as many barriers to voting as possible because it knows it's project is so radical that the only way to pull it off is to slowly disenfranchise as many of these people as possible. My guess is they'll get away with it just the same way they've expanded the rights of Corps. and gotten away with it. They've slowly taken over the courts and now we're seeing why aren't we.
I sent him a letter and that thing burned its way through the lines except I doubt he will read it. I hate these people, scourges that they are. You put something in place that has potential and before you know somebody else comes along co-ops it and want to make it their own. These people are clueless about democracy. There should be a test to become an elected official, step one is to indicate that you actually know what democracy is and that you intend to uphold it, not destroy it.
Here's how a guy I know locally who is a rt. wing pol sees it. " Why should WE allow people to vote who aren't for us?" This is the thinking of a person who has a you call it an authoritarian mentality. I got news for you this is what you get when people are subjected to nothing but rt. wing propaganda day and nite from very early on in there lives. Should we be surprised? They have absolutely no interest in a democracy that allows any opposition to what they want. Tolerance isn't high on their agenda. Obedience is. To them!
