Bully Bully

There's an interview making the rounds with Romney from back in 2007 in which he recalls first meeting his future spouse:

"He remembered that when he was a Cub Scout in elementary school, he and some other scouts saw Ann riding a horse bareback across a railroad track. 'What do Cub Scouts do when they see a little girl on a horse?' Mitt says now. 'We picked up stones and threw them [at her].'"

He thinks this is normal behavior for Cub Scouts to do that. He and Ann both think it quaint and funny now, perhaps on a par with dipping a girl's pigtails in an inkwell. Throwing stones at a girl riding a horse. There is something profoundly damaged and ugly inside this man, to a degree even his assault on John Lauber only hints at.

I'm interested that so much of the attention given to this Washington Post story has gone to the gay-bashing incident with the hair. Don't get me wrong: the idea of several kids holding a peer down while they assault him with scissors is flatly horrific. But the story that I find even more amazing is the one with the teacher, who is described as being either half-blind or perpetually distracted. The one who Mitt walked into a door, just for the Lulz.

Really? A physical assault on a teacher? In a school that (claims to have) expelled Lauber for smoking a single cigarette? And a sly, sniggering assault on an infirm and defenseless teacher at that? That just seems an incredible thing to have done. Although I suspect Lauber's father was neither the former CEO of a major car company nor the governor of the state.

(The story where he impersonates a police officer, which I think may be a felony, to get cheap thrills by intruding on a young lady and her date at an intimate moment, and scares her with the utter destruction of her life as she knows it were she genuinely to be arrested, is also pretty impressively dickish)

Anonymous - I just saw that Blogger decided that your post was spam, so I am lifting it out of the spam box and reposting. This is the first time this has happened here. Very strange. Regardless thanks for the comments.

The more I think about it, the more I am inclined to think that Romney is a piece of work, sadistic. When I think about Bush 2, it literally creeps me out recalling his repulsive sadistic streak with torture and pre-emptive strikes, abu ghraib et al. Certainly there is a very strong sadistic streak in someone like Limbaugh. I'm talking about Stalinesque sadism at its ugliest. The authoritarian personality type uses degradation without a second thought. I don't think that at this point in time that the GOP can put up anything but an authoritarian as its candidate of choice.

I think trying use something that happened 50 yrs. ago to paint a picture of this man as some kind of schoolyard bully is a bad idea. Obama has to do this because he's essentially a sell out to the same forces ( Corp. America.) Also, he has essentially failed his mission to get the job creation machine running again. So, his team has to chage the converation . Does anyone really believe that Romney and the media of which most of it is owned by right wingers is going to allow that to happen? He might very well be a BULLY so? 50+% of America seems to LOVE bullies as I see it. Its a losing strategy they should dump it.

I suspect they are trying to build a case, high school bully, dog bully, gay bully, employment bully etc. It seems to be more geared towards the liberal end of things in terms of who might find it appealing. As a strategy for my money it fits him but that isn't where I would place my money either. The election is said to be won by the independents, everyone else is relatively intractable. Also I think some of these things are done less to try to win over the undecided but more to unite the opposed.

Obama is nothing more then a guy who enjoys power. He's not a very nice person from all reports. He's arrogant and doesn't listen and hates any opposition to his view of things. I don't like him. They're trying to get Mitt's negatives even higher is all. Both, suck. Mitt sucks more , that's a helluva slogan to run on. Nobody believes Obama will do anything to help them anymore. The Hope is gone. This campaign ironically is the Obama camp throwing a bully in our face to scare us. Better our BULLY Barry then their BULLY SHITTY MITTY is the message. In other words STFU and just vote for Obama or else. I hate both of them and might just not vote for either. A pox on both their houses is how I'm feeling right now.

Thanks to the affordable care act, my college-age daughters are on my insurance, and will be after they graduate. That's been a big help; one less thing to worry about.

So I don't buy into the "they're all the same" meme.

Remember the PUBLIC OPTION and his support once for SINGLE PAYER? He sold out, when he obviously never made any attempt to get either. In fact its widely known he's already made deals with the Health Ins. lobbies to drop both for a wholly Corp. owned plan, that by the way does NOTHING to reign in rapidly rising Health costs in a totally dysfunctional non-market. Hundreds of thousands will now die because of his dirty deal done dirt cheap! Oh , but you kid will have a few more yrs. of care. If that's all you can say your happy about is that your child has Health care for a few more yrs. on your over priced policy that's pretty sad. He ( Barry) could have been so much more. Instead, he's a Corp. shill. Is he less of one then MITT? Not really, just a bit more socially Liberal maybe.
